On August 1st, the Footprint Center in Arizona was transformed into an oasis of tranquility and vibrant energy as UMI took the stage as the opening act for Jhené Aiko’s Magic Hour Tour. The energy was colorfully wrapped in florals around UMI’s microphone. It didn’t stop there. Energy continued to effortlessly blossom in beautiful, harmonious songs that couldn’t help but lighten all the shoulders filling the crowd. From the moment UMI stepped into the spotlight, the atmosphere was infused with a sense of joy and serenity, setting the perfect tone for the evening.
UMI’s performance was a mesmerizing blend of soothing melodies and vibrant rhythms. Her ethereal voice floated effortlessly over the crowd, enveloping the audience in a warm embrace of sound. She performed a mix of tracks from her discography, including fan favorites like “Happy I’m” and “Remember Me.” Each song was delivered with a deep sense of emotion, making it clear that UMI was not just performing but sharing a piece of her soul with the audience.
The stage design complemented UMI’s sound perfectly. Soft, ambient lighting bathed the stage in hues of blue and purple, enhancing the calming yet lively vibe that she brought with her music. The minimalist set design allowed UMI’s presence and voice to be the main focus, drawing the audience in with every note.
Throughout her set, UMI engaged with the crowd in a way that felt personal and intimate, even in the large arena. She expressed her gratitude for being part of the tour and for the support of her fans, creating a connection that resonated deeply with everyone present. We felt it warmly. At one point, UMI declared expressive openness with singing a song in Japanese. It wasn’t difficult to be completely mesmerized and enamored by this artist and her beautiful talent.
By the end of her performance, UMI had left the audience in a state of peaceful euphoria, perfectly primed for the magic that Jhené Aiko would bring later on. UMI’s ability to blend vibrant energy with soothing calm made her the ideal opener for the night, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to experience her live. This is an artist on our radar, and should be on yours too. Don’t miss out on her song, “Love Affair” a personal favorite of mine.
