Fletcher
Concert in Review
Fletcher’s performance on October 6th at Arizona Financial Theater was an electric celebration of bold pop, vibrant energy, and unapologetic queer love. The night started off on a high note with pop sensation Maude Latour igniting the crowd, building a buzzing anticipation that pulsed through the venue.
As Fletcher took the stage, celestial visuals washed over the screen, leading into the rock anthem "Carrie," a playful nod to her own name, Cari Fletcher. The space felt cosmic as the visuals transitioned to a montage of her up close and personal before the curtain dropped, and the show opened up with "Maybe I Am." The crowd exploded as Fletcher, poised on a platform, filled the theater with her powerful vocals. The sheer force of her performance instantly captivated the audience, who sang along to every word. “Sting” followed, keeping the momentum high, and as Fletcher descended from the platform to get closer to her fans, she delivered “Serial Heartbreaker,” channeling the passion woven into her lyricism. Her music, drenched in the essence of queer pop, struck a deep connection with the audience.
Halfway through her set, Fletcher took a pause to create an intimate moment with her fans, saying, "I want you to let go to whatever is going on in your life for the next ninety minutes. We're just going to create a bubble in here, our own fantasy dreamland." Her heartfelt message of self-love and liberation resonated deeply with the crowd, amplifying the atmosphere of joy and freedom.
A standout moment came during her performance of "Ego Talking," which highlighted not only Fletcher's vocals but the tight chemistry with her band. Galactic projections and bright lights framed the stage, enhancing the performance with a mesmerizing spectacle. "Shh... Don’t Say It" sent the crowd jumping off their feet, the theater pulsing with energy as everyone danced in unison.
One of the most unforgettable performances was "Girls Girls Girls." Fletcher began the song in a stripped-back acoustic version, sitting on a stool with just a guitar, before the chorus erupted with the lyrics "Told my mom it’s not a phase" boldly displayed on the screen. Fletcher danced across the stage, igniting a ripple of energy that reverberated through the crowd, creating a safe, celebratory space for everyone in attendance.
Then came an exciting twist. Standing in front of the mic, Fletcher teased the crowd with, “This is the part of the show where I’d like your help choosing the setlist.” Gasps and cheers filled the venue as two song titles—"Feel" and "Healing"—appeared on the screen, and fans had to scream to vote. The decibel meter hit the roof when the winner, “Healing,” was announced.
Fletcher returned to the platform for a fan-favorite performance of “Bitter,” with explosive vocals that drew thunderous applause. The chemistry between her and her bandmates, especially the bassist and guitarist, was palpable as they delivered hit after hit. In "Joyride," Fletcher showcased her softer side, balancing powerful pop anthems with the beauty of acoustic sets. She continued to shine with a piano-driven version of "Crush," leaving the crowd entranced.
Songs like "Eras of Us" and "Antidote" followed, showcasing Fletcher’s emotional depth and vocal range. Near the end of her set, she took a playful moment to read fan signs, including one that read, “I used to be a pastor, so I know how to worship...I’ll get on my knees for you.” The crowd roared as Fletcher quipped, singing the lyric, "Oh, her body is Bible." She lovingly interacted with each fan, showing genuine appreciation and gratitude, bringing the audience closer to her in a way that felt personal and heartfelt.
She wrapped up her set with “Doing Better,” giving thanks to both new faces and the loyal "Fletch Fam." She told the crowd, "You are so loved. You are so safe. You are so accepted. Thank you for being here just as you are." The fans screamed the lyrics back at her, especially the biting line, “Your girlfriend never thanked me for making her go viral…fuck it, I’m her idol.”
For the encore, Fletcher delivered the explosive "Becky's So Hot," and at one moment, she leapt into the pit, dancing and greeting fans up close. The theater was filled with a whirlwind of sound as fans sang at the top of their lungs, closing out the night with a final burst of energy that left everyone buzzing. It was an unforgettable night, filled with fierce anthems, intimate moments, and a celebration of love in all its forms. We were welcomed to the In Search of the Antidote Tour, and we didn’t want to leave.
